Ultra-Premium Producer Takes Home Platinum in SIP Awards And Gold, Silver in New York International Spirits Competition
DALLAS – Belfour Spirits proudly announced top awards in two 2021 spirits competitions.

Belfour Special Edition Straight Rye Whiskey, offered at 106 proof, has been awarded Platinum in the 2021 SIP Awards International Spirits Competition, which enlists consumers as judges and experienced a record number of product submissions this year.
“At 106 proof, we knew the Straight Rye lived up to its Special Edition name,” said Ed Belfour, Founder and CEO of Belfour Spirits. “Winning Platinum in the SIP Awards on the heels of earning a Double Gold for this spirit in San Francisco feels incredible. It’s even more meaningful that this is the spirit we bottled and dedicated for Fighting Sioux fans!”
The Belfour Special Edition Straight Rye Whiskey presents caramel, sweet dill, caraway and molasses on nose, and white grape, apricot, raisin and brown sugar upon taste. It finishes smoky, with a coating of white pepper.
2021 New York International Spirits Competition
In the 2021 New York International Spirits Competition (NYISC), the Belfour 100-proof Limited Edition Straight Rye Whiskey received a Gold medal and 95 points for its exceptional profile, and its 92-proof Bourbon Whiskey Finished With Texas Pecan Wood earned a Silver medal and 93 points for its unique taste.
What sets the NYISC apart from other international beverage competitions is its “trade only” blind judging panel, which includes a retail store buyer, sommelier, restaurant beverage director, hotelier, distributor and importer. Medals at the international spirits competition are awarded on a merit basis by a majority vote.

The Belfours aged its Limited Edition Straight Rye Whiskey for two years in 12 American white oak barrels. With a subtle smoky presence, this whiskey has intriguing floral notes on the nose followed by a kaleidoscope of fruit flavors on the palate.
Its one-of-a-kind Bourbon Whiskey Finished With Texas Pecan Wood spent extra time mellowing with added staves of Texas pecan wood at the end of its barrel aging. Its taste is reminiscent of butterscotch and crème brûlée, and it finished with a rich mouthfeel layered with smoky vanilla and hints of spice.
