Belfour Special Edition Straight Rye Whiskey Takes Top Medal
DALLAS – Belfour Spirits is honored to announce that its 106-proof Special Edition Straight Rye Whiskey has been awarded Double Gold for exceptional taste in the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).
A SFWSC double gold medal is awarded to the very few entries that earn gold medal ratings by all members of the judging panel.
Since its introduction in 2000, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world. According to the competition, receiving a Double Gold conveys that a product is “among the finest the industry has to offer.” The SFWSC takes great pride in ensuring that all entries are treated with equal care and consideration by its panels of carefully selected spirits-industry judges, as it emphasizes integrity and impartiality in blind tastings.

The Belfour Special Edition Straight Rye Whiskey was released in November 2020 as limited allocation, available in select stores in North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas and Illinois. The Belfours are planning another release of this 106-proof Straight Rye later in 2021.
The spirit and has aromas of caramel, sweet dill, caraway and molasses. The taste is packed with white grape, apricot, raisin and brown sugar, and finishes smoky with a coating of white pepper. The Belfours distilled this Straight Rye at its distillery partner, Southern Distilling in Statesville, N.C., where the whiskey aged for over two years in new American white oak barrels.
Known for its award-winning packaging, Belfour Spirits lived up to expectations in creating this Special Edition with inclusion of statement brand elements, along with some new twists. The Belfour decanter-like bottle showcases the signature Belfour eagle, wings and 1920’s typeface, and pays tribute to the Fighting Sioux with team colors. Adding to its unique appeal, each cork has an inlaid commemorative coin that reads “Ralph Engelstad Arena, Home of the Fighting Sioux,” making it a memorable gift for any Fighting Sioux fan or whiskey collector who’s lucky enough to find this allocated and limited bottle.
